Signco has been a proud partner of the Kansas City Streetcar Authority (KCSA) for over eight years, first collaborating in 2018. That’s when the KCSA teamed up with local arts organization, Art in the Loop, to wrap the streetcars and stop enclosures with artworks selected annually based on that year’s central theme. By showcasing local artists’ work along one of KC’s most recognizable public transformation routes, the streetcar and its stops provide an engaging and unique way for commuters and visitors to experience work by the city’s vibrant creative community.
This year’s Art in the Loop theme was Home. Click here to see the streetcar and stop enclosures.
Wrapping a streetcar is no easy feat! Each vehicle is 77 feet long, requiring both specialized materials and careful installation to achieve a polished final product. Not only that, quality and durability are a must as the streetcars travel the streets, day in and day out, in all kinds of weather. The size, complexity, and high visibility of the streetcars demand the services of an installer that the KCSA can trust. Signco’s commitment to impeccable workmanship and professional service quickly made them the go-to wrap crew for the KC streetcar.
KC Streetcar Expansion
That commitment has grown along with the KC Streetcar system. The recent expansion of the track allows riders to travel all the way from UMKC, just south of the Country Club Plaza, all the way north to the bustling River Market and Riverfront areas. And it wasn’t just the route that expanded, but the number of streetcars, which now total 14.
More streetcars means more wraps! Signco’s crew has been hard at work for several months installing new, eye-catching wraps on the streetcars, including one in striking blue to commemorate the FIFA World Cup matches that put Kansas City on the world map this summer.
